Detroit Jazz Festival opens with virtuoso performances
DETROIT --Detroit Jazz Festival organizers promised a weekend of surprises to celebrate the 40th annual Labor Day Weekend event. It started Friday, night, Aug. 30, when Artist in Residence Stanley Clarke and one of his predecessors, Danilo Perez, each brought talent-packed ensembles exploring music without boundaries.
